The Young Professionals Networking Group in San Luis Obispo, founded in 2006, is a 501(c)(4) organization that connects local young professionals with community events, professional seminars and various social networking functions. Thanks to support from our members, sponsors, and advertisers YPNG has donated over $32,210 to local non-profits since 2010.
It is the mission of YPNG to enrich the lives of young professionals by facilitating events which create opportunities for professional development, community involvement, and the establishment of personal connections with other young professionals.
YPNG consists of six different groups, each offering a variety of activities. Find what interests you most or try something new:
YPNG’s monthly socials are a staple for newcomers and regulars. Falling on the first Wednesday of every month, socials are held at local bars, restaurants, and wineries. It’s the perfect opportunity for YPNGers new and old to catch up, to meet new members, network, and enjoy the food and wine of the Central Coast. The socials are also the best way to get to know more about YPNG and to discover all the ways you can get involved and have fun. Every social has energy to it, and the members are always excited to see one another. Visit our Events for dates and locations for upcoming socials. If you have any questions or would like to join the Socials Committee please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Community Involvement bridges YPNG with local charitable organizations. Whether it is a monthly social, special event, or a community project, the Community Involvement group is there to bring awareness to local non-profits. Community Involvement’s main goal is to offer activities to bring together YPNG members and local organizations in need of support. Whether that activity is to attend a beach clean-up, support a fundraiser, or match young professionals with volunteer opportunities, Community Involvement believes that YPNGers can have fun and make a difference simultaneously. If you have any questions or would like to join the Community Involvement Committee, please email email@example.com.
Professional Development events are designed to bring the professional and networking sides of YPNG together and help our members become the leaders in the local business community. With that goal in mind, YPNG holds quarterly seminars or workshops led by fellow community professionals on a variety of topics. Past events have included panel discussions on entrepreneurship, personal finance, and communication for managers. In addition to the quarterly events, the committee organizes two speed networking events each year to further connect young professionals in our community. If you have any questions or would like to join the Professional Development Committee, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Special Events focuses on organizing events for YPNGers and raising money for local causes. YPNG organizes and hosts two annual charitable fundraising events: YPNG Monte Carlo Night and the YPNG Movie Night. Monte Carlo is an upscale gaming, dancing, and dining event, and Movie Night is an outdoor movie showing at the historic Jack House in downtown SLO. In addition, Special Events plans two events specifically for YPNGers: the YPNG Wine Tasting Adventure and the YPNG Anniversary Party, which takes place in November. If you have any questions or would like to join the Special Events Committee, please email email@example.com.
YPNG Sports gives YPNGers an opportunity to meet like-minded people while staying active. Besides the physical benefits, it is a way to socialize in a casual, fun environment with other local young professionals. No prior experience is necessary, just a good attitude, a desire to have fun, and willingness to learn. Softball is the most popular of YPNG sports. YPNGers play on Tuesday nights in their own league, six teams to choose from! On top of that, there are one day events such as kickball, golf, and bowling. If you have any questions or would like to join the Sports Committee, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
YPNG offers a broad range of outdoor events from monthly excursions to annual events like ski trips, lake trips, camping, and overnight backpacking trips. The goals are to bring people together to have a good time and to enjoy the outdoors. The events are designed to fit novices and the experienced outdoors-person alike, which ensures that everyone will have a good time. The monthly hikes are on the second Wednesday of every month, in the evenings. They are a great way to explore a little of SLO County’s rural terrain. Larger and/or annual events are scheduled on weekends. If you have any questions or would like to join the Outdoors Committee, please email email@example.com.
