YPNG Fitness at the Beach (19 May 2012)

Join us for SloFlo Fitness Sisters Present: Intuitive Movement Conditioning & Tactical Survival Fitness at the Beach. Come experience self-care fitness at its finest with the SloFlo sisters. We’ll start off with Intu-Flow mobility drills to prime your joints from head-to-toe, an effective & fun form of pre-hab that is sure to improve range of motion. Then we’ll move into a Tacfit bodyweight workout, comprised of sophisticated movements that will challenge mind & body and deliver optimal performance. We’ll cool down with stress conversion tactics known as Prasara yoga to convert your effort into new skills and decompress your entire system.

Join us at 188 Beachcomber Drive in Pismo Beach (on the grass above the cliffs). This event is free and open to members and non members.

YPNG Volleyball Night (24 May 2012)

YPNG Sports is excited to start offering pickup beach volleyball games at Meadow Park starting May 24th at 6pm. Bring your friends and teams will be assembled based on the number of people we have showing up. There are two courts available at Meadow Park, so up to four teams can play at the same time. This event is free and open to both members and non members. Email sports@ypng.org to sign up!

YPNG Volunteer Day - Food Bank Coalition (01 Jun 2012)

On Friday, June 1st team up with YPNG and the Food Bank Coalition of SLO for the Food Bank’s largest fundraiser of the year, Hunger Awareness Day! Our goal is to raise awareness and encourage donations because $1 provide 7 nutritious meals to the county's hungry. We need volunteers to work in 2 hours shifts from 7am to 7pm in our booth at Sierra Vista Hospital. This exciting event is open to members and non-members alike!

A longer more adventurous hike, starting off at a scenic waterfall the trail then follows the stream south through a tree covered canyon and eventually cuts west bringing you to a series of switchbacks up the canyon dropping you at the top of a ridge providing a panoramic view of SLO and East Cuesta Ridge. Bring a light jacket, snack in case you get hungry, a camera and water. This is a great hike and we promise you will have a blast! Meet at the Reservoir Canyon Trail Head.

Take US 101 North. Go one mile past the city limits (Monterey Street exit) and turn right on Reservoir Canyon Road. Drive to the end of the road (about 1/2 mile) and part in the dirt lot. Please try to carpool, the parking area is small. Email Rob at outdoors@ypng.org if you have any questions.

Elevation: 400-1,715 feet

Distance: 6.4 miles round trip

Come out for YPNG Day at the Blues on June 17 at Sinsheimer Stadium for the SLO Blues game! The SLO BLUES are a Summer Collegiate Wooden Baseball Club with all players being current collegiate athletes playing other teams from all over California. This is a FREE, members-only event and is sure to be a good time. Tickets will be available May 21st - June 15th and members can order UP TO TWO TICKETS for this event. First pitch is at 1pm Sunday!

You can expect an exciting day filled with wine tasting (at three local wineries), lunch, a commemorative wine glass and raffle prizes. You’ll be sure to come home with some great stories and new friends so plan for a full day of laughter and fun. It's all about who you know, so start off the Summer right! Networking is crucial in Professional Development but finding the time and the courage can be difficult. For the time-strapped, or those who are just a bit shy, there's Speed Networking. Think of it as speed dating, but with a business focus. Speed Networking can better facilitate the meet-and-greet process and lead to valuable connections. The structured, one-on-one interactions, with a time limit, makes for a fun and lively event and seems to make everyone feel comfortable.

YPNG Speed Networking has been a hit since it started in March 2011, so grab some business cards and come join us for this great opportunity to meet new people!

Bring back those old college memories, or check out a new hike on the Cal Poly Campus. Fun, fairly steep hike up to the Poly "P" and then up to the top with a great view of the Cal Poly Campus. Meet at the upper most parking lot behind the redbrick Cal Poly Dorms. The trail head starts at the locked gate. Bring hiking shoes, water, and a friend. EXTRA! EXTRA! Come out and play! This year's YPNG Beach Day is filled with a plethora of activities. Join us at Pismo Beach and try your hand at ladder ball, bocce ball, volleyball and more...or just soak up some rays and enjoy the good company. This years Beach Day Volleyball Tournament will have an added twist...find three friends and break out your best garb because this year's tournament is a costume event!!! Not only will we crown the champions but the best dressed as well, so come dressed to impress...or to make someone laugh. You can assemble a team of four ahead of time or hop on a team at the event.

YPNG Beach Day is open to members and non members alike. Tickets are $10 for members online, $12 for non members online and $15 day of for both members and non members. Join us for a nice evening stroll along Johnson Ranch Trail located off Ontario Road in south San Luis Obispo. Meet at the Johnson Ranch Trail Head. Follow South Higuera to the end. To reach the trail head, take California Blvd. south until it dead ends at San Luis bay Dr. Turn left onto San Luis Bay Dr., go about a mile past the houses and park at the end of the culdesac. Time for the Annual Holiday Night hike up Madonna Mountain to check out the BIG Christmas Tree! A great hike for everyone leading you to a 360 degree view of SLO City lights.
